Ø Katie Allen
Agenda for meeting
1. Meeting with contributors,
2. Talking about research done,
3. Blogging progress
4. Developing the script
5. Casting actors
6. Determining Locations
7. Any other business
1. Meeting
with contributors
Adele
has given the email addresses to contact the contributors and Latoya has agreed
to write up an advertisement for the StarNow casting website to find actors for
the drama segment of the documentary. Latoya will then email this to Katie to
put up on the website. Auditions are to be set up at the available time.
2. Talking
about the research done
The
group discussed the research that has been put on the blog. Katie needs to
complete the research from last week and work on market research (draw up
questions for the questionnaires and surveys that can be made on Survey Monkey.) Market research will also give us a greater
understanding of what people what from documentaries. We also need to have the
correct statistics and see what other competitors are doing so that we can make
our documentary a unique and valid product. Katie will also get details of
support groups and research on counselling. Counselling heavily features in the
documentary so we need to know as much as possible about the processes. Katie
can get some insight from her father and other information from the internet. We
also want to talk to young boys about the why people want to join gangs.
Adele
also needs to put the annotated version of her research on the blog and give
the details for the contributors. Research on youth clubs and any possible
support groups that we can attend need to be done. Latoya will continue to
contact contributors and source more information on the production processes
and stories on gangs. Tasks have been allocated to members to be done by next Wednesday’s
meeting. The documentary marathon has also been organised. The group also
talked about the benefits of the project and came to the conclusion that it
will better our understanding of gang violence and the massive impact it has on
people’s lives. It will also be an interesting educational tool to young
people. The project will give us a greater understanding of violence. It is a
great opportunity to work with professionals and showcase and develop our
skills as media professionals.
3. Blogging
Progress
The
blog and email address has been set up, but the progress has been slow as Adele
and Katie have not posted any of the research on the blog yet. More research is
needed to be put on and implemented. Research must be put on the home page and
individual pages to show that people are doing the work that has been given to
them.
4. Developing
the script
The
group talked about the structure of the documentary – incorporating the
different scenes of drama and mixing them with the segments of interview
footage. The music composer for the project has been confirmed, and the type of
music has been sourced. The climax of the documentary has also been determined.
A treatment and rough guide of the whole script will be written up.
5. Casting
actors
Latoya
will contact contributors and cast actors by next week. We will hold auditions at
soonest possible time. A short brief of the actors need and descriptions have
been written up by Adele. Latoya will write up an advert for Katie to post on
the StarNow website.
6. Determining
Locations
The
group discussed locations to film. We can get more research from people at
Potters House in Birmingham.
Drama
segment - We will film in outside locations, youth clubs and a community
centre.
