PRESENTER INTRODUCTION
Loosing any family member
is hard, but when you loose a child it could seem like the whole world has just
crashed around you.
(could insert possible
stills and clips of funeral processions e.g my murder at the end where we saw
real pictures of he victims funeral).
Gang violence is
responsible for almost (enter statistic)
deaths a year and as a mother of … I cant even begin to imagine what my
life would be like if I ever lost a child in such a violent way.
Im Davida Wilks and I
want to look deeper into gang violence and the effects that it has on families.
What course of action if any is put in place to ensure the safety of gang
members families and the people that are there to try and get gangs off the
street.
I will begin my journey
with PC Brown of West Midlands police.

bed looking very tired and depressed Staring at something, her mom enters the
room with a cup of tea and a slice of toast.
CAROLINE
Here's some tea and toast you need to eat something
and start getting ready the car will be here in an hour.
Alicia doesn't respond
and continues to stare at the clock. Caroline leaves the room. Alicia continues
to stare and then glances over at the clock it is now 08:45 she gets up and
heads towards the bathroom. Meanwhile downstairs Caroline is talking to Selvin
Alicia's dad.
CAROLINE
If you saw her, she didn't even blink she was just
staring at the photo of Anton and AJ.
SELVIN
She will be fine we got to stay strong for her, you
know it vexes me to see my daughter like this we told her many times about the
company Anton was in and she didn't want to hear it. Stubborn just like her
mom.
CAROLINE
Ay cheeky, the car will be here in like 15 minutes let
me go see if she has even made an attempt to get ready.
Caroline heads upstairs
and enters Alicia's room. Her face drops.
CAROLINE
SELVIN! SELVIN!
Selvin runs up the stairs
and enters Alicia's room. His face drops.
Alicia is sitting in her
mirror looking spaced out applying eyeliner not only to her eyes but drawing
all over her face. Fades to black.
Presenter
(Talks directly
to camera)
After
talking to PC Brown when he said the bit about funerals, it had me thinking is
that it, are you supposed to get on with life is there no support for these
people that have perhaps lost a child a partner you know.
Ive
decided visit… they are a bereavement centre. It would be very interesting to
know how they actually deal with clients who have experienced loss.

SHADEA SIMMONS
Thank you for today ladies see you next week. Alicia
could I have a quick word.
Alicia walks over to
Shadea. Caroline enters the room.
SHADEA SIMMONS
Alicia im very worried about you, its been over a
month and you haven't even said a word. Im here to help you not to judge.
Alicia stares and Shadea
with a blank expression.
SHADEA SIMMONS
Go on your moms waiting for you at the back.
Alcia walks away and
towards her mom.
CAROLINE
Heres the keys I'm just going to have a quick word
with the lady.
Alicia takes the car keys
and heads towards the car. Caroline walks over to Shadea.
CAROLINE
Excuse me hi there, my name is Caroline Fuller I'm
Alicia's mom.
SHADEA SIMMONS
Hi im Shadea im glad you came over to talk to me
because im worried about Alicia.
CAROLINE
You and me both, I just don't know what to do she
doesn't talk, she barely even eats its like she doesn't want to move on .
SHADEA SIMMONS
I dont think the problem is she doesnt want to I think
its she doesnt know how to. Now during these sessions Alicia doesnt even speak
and doesnt interact with the other ladies and if this continues she is not
going to do herself any favours.
CAROLINE
Im all out of ideas im scared its going to get to the
point where she might take her own life.
SHADEA SIMMONS
Ok well its not going to come to that, what Alicia has
been through is not easy for anyone let alone a 23 year old she is young, give
me your number leave it me I'm not going to give up.
CAROLINE
Thank you, thank you so much
SHADEA SIMMONS
This is what im here to do and you shouldnt give up
either.
Fades to black.

Ive always believed that
people who are in gangs are selfish and care about no one but themselves Im on
my way to visit Dion who was involved in a gang but has now made his way out
and given his life to Christ.
INSERT INTERVIEW
Dion (former gang
member?)
(possibly insert some stills of Dion preaching at
church or acting in his plays)
presenter could ask the question (is it right to say
that having someone to guide you in the right direction is important)… which
will lead into:
Taking away what Dion had
said about having support I’m meeting with Jo Jackson who works with gangs.
INSERT INTERVIEW
JO JACKSON (works with
gangs)
Jo has invited me to a
guns and gangs conference.
(talks directly to camera)
I don’t know exactly
whats going to be said but it does sound interesting and it could be very
insightful.
(footage of Davida sitting in the conference, possible
go and ask other people questions).
Yes the conference was
very good very, very good, learnt a lot.

ALICIA
Hi everyone, my name is Alicia Fuller and i am 23
years old. 6 months ago my boyfriend Anton Miller and my 2 year old son AJ were
murdered. Anton was part of a gang you may off heard of them the BC Crew, it
wasnt my plan to bring home any member of any crew home to my parents and say
hey this is my boyfriend but thats what happened and i dont regret it.
Regardless of the things he had done i loved him so much,i guess the saying is
true you live by the gun you die by the gun its just a shame that my son had to
go the same way. For 6 months i have been trying to work out in my head why
such a thing would happen to me and what i did to deserve it, but i came to the
conclusion God wouldnt give me anything i couldnt handle and thats what i am
doing now handling it. One thing these gang bangers don't realise is the
effects their actions have on their loved ones and innocent people sometimes do
get caught in the cross fire, but i believe in the power of God and I'm going
to do everything in my power to try and help the young people and i hope that
in the future i hope that i will have more kids a boy especially so that he may
grow up and make a difference in these young mens life. I want to thank my mom
and Shadea for never giving up on me and I won't let them down. Thank you.

commences. Caroline smiles and wipes away tears. Shadea smiles. Alicia smiles.

Presenter
When I first started out
this journey I was keen to find out the effects gun and knife crime have on
families. But instead I ended up coming away with a lot more. I met people that
have really helped me understand more about gang culture and that its something
that may never go away, you can guide people cuss them whatever but its up to them
you cant help someone that doesn’t want to help them selves really and it’s a shame
because there is a lot of potential out there and it seems like its just gonna
go to waste but hey that’s life.
This is Lanesfield Community centre where some of the drama will be filmed, the room inside is well lit and can hold up to 45 people, all the facilities we require are available.
Payment has to be made by 20th March.
Here is the audition script ive just wrote a few lines for each character, ive tried to do it to reflect the character in the drama.
Alicia Fuller:
It has been so hard since they both left me, everyday I wake
up for a slight second there is this glimmer of hope that this nightmare isn’t
real but then reality hits, I just keep asking myself why, why would such a
thing happen to me what did I do to deserve this.
Caroline Fuller:
Alicia, you are my daughter and I love you so much and I
cant even imagine what you are going through right now, but all I want to do is
help, please Alicia let me help you.
Selvyn Fuller:
I never thought my little girl, MY little girl would have to
go through such a thing and you know when you just feel so helpless because you
cant do a thing, that’s how I feel.
Anton Miller:
Its just going to be me and little man today, no women
allowed, soz.
Detective Graham:
Alicia Fuller. I’m afraid I have some very bad news to tell
you, your partner Anton Miller and son Anton Miller Junior were involved in a
drive by shooting in which both were shot and killed.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Inspector Hanson:
Alicia Fuller. I’m afraid I have some very bad news to tell
you, your partner Anton Miller and son Anton Miller Junior were involved in a
drive by shooting in which both were shot and killed.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Shadea Simmons:
I know what you’ve been through trust me I know, but I don’t
know how you feel. I want you to tell me, tell me exactly how you feel or even
show me, kick a chair throw a pillow, I don’t care just let me know how you
feel.
Here is also a website where i just go a bit of information about breaking bad news
I have handed the insurance letter to the community centre, we have to pay them on 20th March so that will be £21 and a £50 cheque which is returnable unless we break anything.
I took a couple pics of the location but because there was a playgroup in there i didnt want to get any of the kids in shot and outside there were cars parked, so i couldnt get a clear shot of the centre. Im going to go back down there so i can take some proper photos.
Community centre is booked for 27th March 2013 1-4pm
it will cost £21 so thats £7 each.
I also have to provide insurance documents but the university covers that right? So Im gonna get those documents on Wednesday and hand it them on Thursday... which i will get shown around the venue ( i have been there before and it is suitable) but that is there procedure. You guys can come if you are unavailable I will go there and take pictures so at least you will know what you are working with.
I was thinking to maybe do our film the final week in March so 25th & 26th documentary and 27th & 28th drama.
There is a costume hire place called Creations the cheapest quote i have had so far £25 to rent and £30 booking (returnable), I will continue to look see if i find anything cheaper.

Stills and video clips could also be inserted
Interview
Police man

Narrator
Interview with a counsellor
Drama
Scene 3
Intereview
Guy that works with gangs
Former gang member
Drama
Scene 4
Narrator
( I was thinking that at the end of the final scene, the
narrator could come into the actual scene and perhaps say something like this)
The events in the drama you have watched have been staged,
however it is important to stress the seriousness of gang violence ………..
I will go into more detail in our next meeting.
I aint got a name for the script yet not sure what to call it.
A pretty black girl, I was thinking maybe someone like Davida would be perfect her height build everything.
Caroline- Afro Caribbean, 48 years old
Alicia's mom, I want her to look like one of them proper black women she is a nurse the family comes from a nice background.
Selvyn- Afro Caribbean, 50 years old
The best description I can give, is someone that looks like you dad.
Detective Graham & Inspector Hanson- White males
Shadea Simmons- Afro Caribbean, 48 years old
preferably it would be nice if she could speak some Jamaican I would like her to look like this
Extras- we can perhaps use Porsha and them for the people in the support group
Update
Hey
So far I have been looking at some possible locations to shoot the drama, as you know I have already wrote the script so I send it to both you guys shortly. I also have one email address for the contributors and I should have the other two by Sunday so when I have them all I will send them to you Latoya.
Also as you requested Latoya I have written down a brief description of what I want the characters to look like for the drama so we can then begin casting as soon as possible.
